The Moment Fanny Sling (V2) is made from weatherproof recycled Kodra with a double-layer waterproof coating. The material has a smooth, grid-like pattern that feels both protective and soft to the touch. It provides reliable weather resistance to protect your gear in unexpected rain or downpours.

The sling uses reverse coil YKK zippers with basic nylon zipper pulls that have a slightly shiny finish added to them. These zippers glide pretty smoothly, even when around corners. At the bottom of the bag are built-in attachment points that use simple G-hooks, perfect for securing items to the outside, like umbrellas, tripods, or jackets. However, these attachment points require careful management because when not in use, they should be connected and tightened to prevent dangling or disconnecting. Another option is to unhook the G-hooks and use their dedicated attachment point to hook on external gear, although that loop is somewhat small.

The overall branding is pretty minimalistic, which is particularly nice when traveling since it does not attract unnecessary attention. Moment’s logo is subtly printed on the front in the same matching color as the rest of the bag, creating a pretty discrete accent, with no additional emblems or logos anywhere else around the bag.

The strap is pretty comfortable, with a smooth, seatbelt-like texture and a shiny finish that matches the zipper pulls. It is incredibly comfortable to wear and easy to adjust even on the go, whether using it as a sling or a waist pack.

One interesting design aspect is the massive chunky plastic buckle anchored to one side of the sling. When oriented correctly, this placement can make disconnecting and reconnecting easier than a center-mounted buckle, but it does require careful consideration of how you wear the bag.

The lack of a grab handle is not ideal, particularly when the bag is full. Picking it up feels awkward, similar to handling a large clutch. Though you can use the side compression straps as makeshift handles in a pinch, this can cause the contents to get jumbled around inside the bag.

Fit Notes

When worn as a sling, it contours nicely to the body, whether in front or back, with smooth transitions between positions. The strap keeper effectively manages excess slack, and the wide openings make accessing gear quick and comfortable. The only minor consideration is the side buckle placement, which requires some attention to maintain easy access.

You can keep your gear secure and wear it comfortably around your waist, although there is a bit of extra strap to manage. While excess slack can accumulate depending on your size and fit preferences,  you can double it up in the included strap keeper to contain it. We do not love this look, but otherwise, the pack performs excellently in terms of comfort, security, and functionality. It stays firmly in place without slipping, and you can use the adjustable compression straps as convenient handles for repositioning the pack. The bag slides smoothly against clothing, making quick adjustments easy. When properly tightened against the body, it maintains a secure fit while allowing easy access to its compartments.

Inside The Sling

The Moment Fanny Sling (V2) has a ton of compartments. The foremost secondary pocket is a front compartment protected by a large rain-resistant flap. It opens with a single zipper to reveal a felt-lined interior ideal for storing sensitive gear like lenses or a small compact camera. It includes a small divider using hook-and-loop fastening for quick organization. However, the minimal padding means delicate items like sunglasses could still be damaged if you drop or bump the bag too frivolously.

Behind the main compartment is a similarly wide pocket spanning the pack’s full dimensions, secured with dual zippers and a fairly wide opening. While it lacks any kind of internal organization, this simple zippered slip pocket is perfect for flat items like a phone. It can fit even larger models like the iPhone 15 Pro Max easily, and thanks to the dual zippers, it’s super quick to access and has a secure closing.

The final compartment is just behind the previously mentioned one. It features a hidden single zipper with a dock for extra security. This pocket sits against the body regardless of how you wear the pack, providing excellent security. Though the opening is somewhat narrow, it offers exceptional capacity and works well for storing sensitive items like wallets, cash, or passports.

The main compartment has dual zippers and a wide opening for easy access. Thanks to the compression straps on both sides, this particular compartment can collapse or expand to accommodate different storage needs. Inside is a medium-sized slip pocket against one wall, with a key leash attached to the top. The key leash is an elastic band with a nice accent color and a plastic carabiner for securing keys. While the elastic provides a decent amount of stretch, it is not exceptionally long or accommodating.

On the opposite side, there’s a more structured and padded slip pocket. While it can accommodate larger phones like an iPhone 15 Pro Max, access is not particularly quick or easy. Two additional tiny slip pockets are tucked into the corners of the compartment. This thoughtful organization provides a nice level of convenience when needed while staying out of the way when not in use.

Its intuitive design and versatility make it an excellent choice for daily carry. While the multiple compartments might seem excessive, they provide convenient organization without the complexity of internal dividers. Each pocket can be designated for a clear purpose, from securing valuables to protecting sensitive gear, making the bag both practical and user-friendly. Thanks to its durable materials and construction, it will also provide ample protection for your gear inside. Despite some very minor issues like strap management and the lack of grab handles, the Moment Fanny Sling (V2) provides an impressive balance of functionality, comfort, and minimalistic style that makes it a solid choice for a variety of use cases.
