Full Review

The BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag is sustainably sourced, packable, and stylish. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean it works well for traveling and commuting. Let’s dive in and see how it fares!

External Components

BAGGU takes recycled materials and sustainability seriously, and this bag is evidence of that. The sling is crafted from recycled nylon from pre-consumer waste, ensuring that scrap materials stay out of landfills. Also, their packaging is made from recycled paper without plastic coatings. From start to finish, this process is more sustainable than some brands.

BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag | You can wear this bag in many different ways.

The main compartment zipper is a durable YKK VISLON model. The teeth are a little rough, which can scratch if your hand or arm brushes against them. Inside, the zippers aren’t from a brand we recognize, though they feel durable enough for use daily or while traveling.

There isn’t much going on around the bag’s exterior, and there isn’t a logo on the pack itself. BAGGU is embroidered across the strap, but the overall look is very minimalistic.

The colorway options are absolutely fantastic. There’s something for everyone, from special edition Snoopy designs to vibrant and sleek colorways. However, the colorways available will depend on which model you choose.

There are two versions of the BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag available, and the only variation other than the colorway options is the strap length. There are 47-inch (119.38 centimeters), which we’re testing, or 37.5-inch (95.25 centimeters) options, so you can choose the one that fits your body type best. The strap doesn’t have a strap keeper, so if you’re on the smaller side, we recommend using the shorter strap length to have less material floating around once it is adjusted properly.

Fit Notes

While the strap incorporates the BAGGU name into its design, it lacks padding or aeration. However, we don’t find an issue with that. It’s wide enough to bear the weight comfortably, and the bag isn’t large enough to hold gear that’ll cause it to dig into your shoulder. That said, if you loaded it with rocks or soup cans, you may have an issue. Who does that, though?

There isn’t a specific back panel or any padding, and you can wear it on either side of your body. However, you may find that one way works better for your needs. Our primary tester found that, while cycling, they preferred the extra strap to be on their left side so it wasn’t flapping around under their arm, but liked the additional strap to be on the right side while walking. Your mileage may vary, but we always found a way to make it work.

Inside The Sling

There’s just one compartment, so we’ll keep this short and sweet.

BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag Cross
BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag | The pack is comfortable.

The bag is crescent-shaped, which looks nice and conforms well to your body; however, it can be challenging to use all of the space adequately due to the tight corners near the top. We often find some wasted space in almost every sling, so keep that in mind.

There are small zippered pockets inside, against the front and back panels of the bag, which work well for a phone, wallet, passport, or other small goodies you don’t want to get lost in the main compartment. This is the only organization, so if you need more, you may need to bring organizers like a tech pouch to keep this sling segmented and your gear easy to find.

The rest of the space is free real estate, and you can fit a lot of gear here. It’s important to note that the materials are very thin and malleable, so whatever you stow inside can change the appearance and comfort of the bag. Heavier gear tends to make it sag, but you can iron this out with careful packing. We could easily carry a mirrorless camera and an extra lens inside; however, we put the lens in a hat and positioned the camera body so the lens was facing diagonally downward so it wouldn’t protrude out the front or back sides. The space is so big that it’s versatile, but making larger items work whenever you want to pack them can be challenging.

Aside from strap length, you can also get this bag in three sizes: small, medium, and large. The small version is a pockets plus-sized bag, which fits what you’d typically stow in your pockets and a few extra goodies. The medium, which we’re reviewing here, is suitable for your pocketable gear, some extras, and a few larger items, like gear to keep you entertained while commuting, like a Nintendo Switch. The large size feels like a daypack or large shopping bag and can be used for a full day out for you and a partner.

Though all the bags have the same design, it feels as if the larger the bag, the more wasted space it has. For example, if there were 10% wasted space inside all of the bags, as they have the same design, that percentage would be more significant for the medium than the small and the large than the medium. You can typically find a way to use the capacity, but it doesn’t always make sense.

This bag is incredibly packable, too. When it’s empty, it is small enough to fit into your coat pocket, which is handy for trips to the market. Our primary tester did this to take the bag into a soccer game and carried the free goodies they gave away prematch inside the bag so their hands and pockets weren’t overflowing.

Overall, this bag is very versatile but comes with a few caveats. It’ll dig in if you’re carrying super heavy gear, and the malleable materials and lack of organization might not be for everyone. It’s great for travel because you can fit it into small spaces and unpack it when needed. Just like a crescent wrench is handy in the workshop, you can use the BAGGU Medium Nylon Crescent Bag to handle many of your travel and commuting needs.
