Full Review
The Chrome Industries Logan Pouch is a compact and lightweight pouch that keeps daily essentials within easy reach thanks to its minimal form factor. The pouch has a removable and repositionable shoulder strap, giving it extra flexibility. It is almost like adding an additional pocket to your everyday carry, but with added organization. The pouch features a quick-access front compartment and a zippered main compartment that are both intuitive and easy to use.
The front stash pocket is particularly convenient for its quick and easy access. It provides excellent flexibility and is versatile enough to be used as a minimal tech pouch or as a dedicated traveling companion. It is also a great option for carrying all your daily essentials. The bag is designed to hang vertically, but you can easily customize it according to your preference.
External Components
The Chrome Industries Logan Pouch is made with 400D recycled crinkle nylon that has a smooth texture in the hand. This choice of material, while reasonably comfortable to the touch, gives the bag a unique aesthetic similar to how leather ages over time. While initially subtle, the effect becomes more noticeable with use, adding a distinctive character. The pouch also uses reverse coil YKK zippers that help keep dirt, debris, and water from entering. While it’s not as effective as AquaGuard, it does a great job, and we have no issues.
Despite its small size, the bag does not feature any grab handles. However, it does have two loops on the back that can be used as additional attachment points or to turn the pouch into a waist pack by threading a belt through them. This could be a handy way to add extra capacity to your daily carry without bringing another bag. But keep in mind, if worn this way, you’ll need to take off your belt to remove it. As for branding, it is pretty minimal, with the Chrome Industries emblem located at the bottom right corner on the front of the bag and a small tab with the emblem and logo combination on the back.
The Chrome Industries Logan Pouch is very flexible; you can carry it as a clutch, sling, or waist pack. It’s vertically oriented, but thanks to the removable shoulder straps, you can easily make it horizontal, depending on personal preference. You can also reposition the straps by attaching the carabiner at both ends of the strap to any of the four attachment points around the corner of the bag, providing extra customizability and flexibility. Along with this added flexibility, the dual zippers can be stored on whichever side best suits the bag’s orientation and your needs.
The strap is made of a seatbelt-like nylon that is smooth and comfortable to use and slides smoothly and easily on the skin. The plastic buckle adjuster is somewhat stiff at first but becomes slightly easier to adjust over time. The strap is also removable and repositionable, ensuring the adjuster is always on the preferred side. Despite being thin, the strap works well, given the pouch’s one-liter volume, and doesn’t require a super wide design for weight distribution or padding for comfort.
Fit Notes
The Chrome Industries Logan Pouch has a sleek and minimalist design, almost reminiscent of a traditional pocket from a pair of men’s pants if you were to wear it as a sling or attach it to your belt. Although its vertical orientation might not be everyone’s favorite, it works well due to its small form factor. Its all-black aesthetic allows it to blend in, making it pretty inconspicuous. Thanks to its small size, it is easy to wear underneath clothing such as a coat, jacket, or hoodie without sticking out or protruding too much.
Inside The Pouch
The only secondary compartment on this pouch is a front stash pocket with a protective flap that safeguards the interior and its contents from weather and external elements. The flap’s design and construction allow it to cover the entire opening, providing added protection, for example, in the event of rain. While the rain should theoretically not be able to enter, you should use this as a last resort as the opening remains unsealed.
This pocket is easily accessible and takes up most of the front of the bag, allowing for quick and easy access without needing to unzip or fiddle with anything. This makes it ideal for grabbing items like hand sanitizer, keys, or even a phone. However, larger phones like the iPhone Pro Max are a tight fit, and getting one in or out is anything but quick. We were able to fit an iPhone 15 Pro Max in this pocket, but it required some effort to get it inside. Even then, the flap did not fully cover it, causing the phone to protrude slightly.
The main compartment of the pouch is secured with smooth dual zippers. What sets apart the opening of this main compartment is its unique design and shape. Unlike the typical clamshell or accordion-style openings, the zippers of this compartment open in a hook-like shape. This design allows the bag to open wide enough to provide an excellent overview of the inside, yet not so wide that it risks items accidentally falling out.
On one side of the main compartment is a mesh slip pocket that offers a decent amount of stretch. This slip pocket is quite spacious and can conveniently accommodate larger items such as a phone, a small portable power bank, or a wallet. We found that it fits our iPhone 15 Pro Max adequately well. You could also securely store a passport in this pocket.
On the opposite side of the main compartment, there’s a minimal organization panel with two slip pockets that have black accents around the opening, providing additional visibility. However, these pockets do not have any stretch, which is a factor to keep in mind. Despite this, these pockets are suitable for smaller, flatter items, like a transport or bank card, cash, or receipts. This pocket can even fit a small pair of headphones, like AirPods, although putting bulky gear inside might cause the pocket to bulge, eating up valuable inner space. Below these pockets, there are three elastic loops. These can be used to store writing utensils, such as pens, pencils, or a stylus, and they can also be used for storing cables.
Aside from the organizational panels, the remaining space in this compartment can serve as a convenient dump site for miscellaneous items. The organizational panels on each side are practical and beneficial when needed, but they do not take up much room when not in use, which is always nice to see. The pouch utilizes space efficiently for flexibility and customization for each use case or scenario.
The Chrome Industries Logan Pouch is a versatile and adaptable pouch that works well for travel or daily carry. Its minimalistic design, efficient use of space, and various carry options make it an excellent choice for those who value convenience and flexibility in a small form factor, and the durable materials ensure peace of mind that this pouch will last. Although its minimal size might limit how much gear you can carry, it excels at keeping the essentials organized and within reach. Its unique aesthetic and functionality make it an excellent choice for those looking for a flexible solution for everyday needs.
