A backpack is an essential companion, whether you're hiking trails or exploring city streets. That said, Osprey travel packs are specifically designed to excel both on the road and once you've reached your destination.
Osprey offers a variety of packs in different sizes, each featuring attributes borrowed from their renowned backpacking line. Many of these packs incorporate the brand's signature comfort-focused backpanel and harness systems, along with smartly placed compression straps and water-resistant finishes.
And it goes without saying that choosing the right pack to fit your travel style can make all the difference. To help you find the perfect fit, we've plugged in our favorite Osprey travel packs below — whether you're heading on a quick weekend getaway or an extended overseas adventure.
A Sustainable Touch
Note that Osprey has made a concerted effort to create more sustainably sourced products and uses fabrics from recycled and Bluesign-approved materials. In fact, in most cases Osprey’s bags include up to 100% recycled material content.
Light & Fast: Carry-On Bags
Packing light makes it easier to carry your essentials with you while on vacation or a weekend getaway. If your trip includes air travel, packs sized for carry-on mean you can skip the luggage claim and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your stuff is within reach in an overhead compartment.
Daylite Carry-On Travel Pack 35
The Daylite Carry-On Travel Pack 35 is a travel-ready day pack with a 16-inch laptop sleeve (instead of a hydration reservoir). It has a mesh-covered AirScape foam backpanel and an EVA foam padded harness for a comfy carry.
A full zipper unfolds the pack like a suitcase, compression straps secure the load, and grab handles make it easy to pick up throughout your travels. On the sides, two stretchy water bottle pockets deploy when needed and cling to the pack when not in use.
This 35L pack meets all U.S. airline carry-on standards — and most around the globe. The Daylite Series also includes a 26+6 expandable pack and a 44L pack, as well as rolling options. The carry-on packs also have trolley handle pass-through sleeves to stack atop wheeled Osprey travel packs and luggage.
Daylite Carry-On Wheeled Duffel 40
Another popular carry-on approach is the Daylite Carry-On Wheeled Duffel 40. It's great for hauling and handling in and out of cars, trains, and planes, and then wheeling it down the concourse as needed.
Osprey builds these wheeled duffels to withstand rugged travel, which is why it rides on two 3-inch inline skate wheels with protective rails and a fabric kickplate that'll hold up to repeated use.
The backpack configuration with deployable straps helps in case you go off-road for a length of time or prefer weaving through crowds with a pack closer to your body. Two exterior pockets let you stash your keys, passport, or other essentials. Additionally, lockable zippers secure access to the main compartment.
Big Hauls: Trek & Travel Packs
Sometimes, the whole purpose behind your traveling is to go backpacking. In this case, you need a bag ready for both.
Fairpoint & Fairview 55 Travel Pack
The Farpoint/Fairview 55 Travel Pack is a checked luggage option with smart backpacking elements. At 55L, it's pushing the limits of airline carry-on standards but should be fine to store onboard a plane — if there's room.
Features include its adjustable torso fit, large panel access (like a suitcase), and a stowaway backpanel, harness, and hipbelt. It has several mesh pockets and compression straps for storage and a secure fit.
The daypack piggybacks along the main travel pack and is ready for side missions with mesh side pockets and space for a laptop.
Rolling Basecamps: Travel Packs & Luggage
Osprey makes several checked luggage packs and bags. These include larger versions of the Daylite (up to 115L capacity), the Sojourn backpacks, and oversized haulers like the Transporter Wheeled Duffel 120.
Sojourn Wheeled Travel Pack 25″/60L
The Sojourn's 60L capacity means you’ll have to check it for air travel, but readily straps onto your back for long bouts of walking. To help with those instances, Osprey cribs backpacking attributes like the HighRoad chassis and breathable AirScape backpanel.
The Sojourn HighRoad Suspension creates an extra-wide chassis using an alloy peripheral frame and center handle stays. The stowable (and removable) backpanel uses Osprey’s AirScape ridged foam and has an adjustable torso length. Similarly, the padded hipbelt, with plenty of webbing for different sizes, can be hidden away while in transit.
To keep things rolling on the concourse or around town, the pack is equipped with oversized 90mm wheels. These extra-sturdy wheels and the rigid frame offer better durability than your typical off-the-shelf travel luggage.
Transporter Wheeled Duffel 120
As one of the largest travel options from Osprey, the Transporter Wheeled Duffel makes no effort to resemble a backpack. It's intent on helping you transport oversized gear and lots of it.
The 120L capacity is backed up with durable fabrics and the sturdy, lightweight aluminum frame of the HighRoad Chassis. The recycled polyester fabrics are TPU-coated for added durability from abrasion and a DWR coating to shed moisture.
And you need have no fear of dragging this over cobblestones or other uneven surfaces — this duffel rides on 110mm sealed-bearing wheels.
The bag comes with large end pockets for things like boots or helmets. There are zippered mesh pockets and sleeves inside as well as 10 YKK zippers on the outside with lockable sliders and rain flap protection.
Lastly, four big grab handles and six lash points make it easier to move and position the bag while on the go.
